Wati is a capable WhatsApp marketing and sales tool with a low entry price. Teams go looking for a Wati alternative when they need more than three people on the number without jumping plans, when customer service runs on email and phone as well as WhatsApp, or when they want AI answers without a separate Astra bill.
Cue suits WhatsApp-led customer service teams that want unlimited seats and calls in the same inbox. Respond.io suits high-volume messaging across many apps. SleekFlow suits WhatsApp sales and commerce. Trengo suits teams that need Instagram, TikTok and Telegram alongside WhatsApp. AiSensy, Interakt, Gupshup and ChatInc are covered for teams in markets where they're common, with South Africa given its own section.
Cue publishes this page, so treat the Cue entry as one vendor's view. Where Wati is the better fit, the guide says so.
Why teams move off Wati
Four reasons come up, and none of them is that Wati is a bad product.
User caps by plan. Wati's Growth plan includes three users and doesn't allow extra users. Pro and Business include five, with extra users charged on top. A service team that grows past five pays per head or moves plan.
One connected channel on Growth. Growth connects a single channel. Email, web chat and phone aren't part of the inbox, so teams that handle those too run a second tool.
AI priced separately. Wati's Astra AI agents are a separately priced add-on, and automation triggers are capped by plan.
Built for campaigns and commerce. Wati's strengths are broadcasts, click-to-WhatsApp ads, Instagram and TikTok, and catalogue selling. Teams whose main job is answering service enquiries and following up often find the inbox side is the smaller part of the product.
Wati's Growth price is $59 a month billed annually, the figure its pricing page showed when we checked on 30 October 2026. Wati prices by region and the page showed US dollars rather than a UK amount, so get a written quote before you compare totals.
What Wati does well: a low entry price for a one-to-three-person WhatsApp team, strong broadcast and campaign tooling, Instagram and TikTok in the same inbox, a Shopify-friendly commerce setup and a wide partner network.

The column that decides most Wati switches is users included. If your reason for leaving is the three-user cap, price each option at the number of people who need the WhatsApp number, not at the headline plan.
If your team has outgrown three seats
Cue gives every plan unlimited seats, with WhatsApp, phone, email, web chat and Messenger in one inbox, from £249 or R4,500 a month. Book a demo or see pricing in pounds or rand.
Cue vs Wati

Wati and Cue both run WhatsApp on the WhatsApp Business Platform with a shared inbox, templates and broadcasts. The difference is what sits around WhatsApp and how you pay for people.
Cue is a customer service platform. WhatsApp, phone, email, web chat and Facebook Messenger land in one inbox, on one contact record, with unlimited seats on every plan. Wati is a WhatsApp platform with Instagram, Facebook and TikTok alongside, built around marketing, sales and commerce, with users included by plan.

If your job is WhatsApp marketing for an online shop, Wati is built for it and Cue isn't trying to be. If your job is customer service, with WhatsApp as the main channel and calls and email around it, that's what Cue is built for.
1. Cue
Cue brings WhatsApp, phone, email, web chat and Facebook Messenger into one inbox. Every conversation sits on one contact record, so an agent answering a call can see the WhatsApp thread from that morning.
What it does well:
WhatsApp customer service. Several agents on one WhatsApp Business number, with Broadcasts for proactive updates and templates for reminders. Cue is a badged Meta Business Partner.
Phone in the same inbox. Cue Phone is included on every plan: hold and transfer, recording and transcription on the contact record, and agent-led outbound calls to UK and EMEA numbers including South Africa. Phone Flows, which route callers by team or site through a keypad menu, come in from the Automate plan. Calls are answered by your team, not by AI.
AI Agents on digital channels. AI Agents answer from your own knowledge on WhatsApp, email, web chat and Messenger and hand over to a person when they need to. Included from the Automate plan with 500 AI resolutions a month.
Unlimited seats. Sales, service and the colleagues who only occasionally pick up a conversation can all be in Cue without a seat charge.
Pricing: Connect £249, Automate £499 and Scale £699 a month at 1,500 monthly active contacts, excluding VAT, on a 12-month contract. Connect carries a one-off £249 onboarding fee; onboarding is free from Automate. WhatsApp messages are £0.10 marketing, £0.05 utility, £0.05 authentication and £0.02 service, with 1,000 free service messages a month per number. Full details on the pricing page.
Proof: Payflex resolves 82% of customer queries with Cue AI on its digital channels. Stellantis brands saw a 196% increase in customer response rate on WhatsApp. Hollard saw a fivefold increase in survey responses after moving surveys from SMS to WhatsApp. On G2, a digital support specialist at Axxess, a South African internet provider, describes Cue as making WhatsApp, the channel their customers prefer, easy for agents and team leads to manage (review dated 9 September 2026). Cue is rated 4.9 out of 5 on G2 from 27 reviews (19 October 2026).
Watch out for: No Instagram or TikTok. Cue Phone has no voicemail, dialler or AI answering. AI Agents and the chatbot builder aren't on Connect.
2. Respond.io
Respond.io is a conversation management platform for teams handling a high volume of messages on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram and other apps.
What it does well: Routing by need, workflows that automate follow-ups and data capture, broadcasts, CRM and ecommerce integrations, and AI agents on a published credit model. Respond.io advertises VoIP and WhatsApp Calling, and states that it doesn't add a markup to Meta's WhatsApp charges.
Pricing: Starter $79 a month annually ($99 monthly), Growth $159 ($199), Advanced $279 ($349). Users are included by plan; Growth and Advanced reference 1,000 monthly active contacts. Checked 13 October 2026.
Best for: Sales and support teams running several messaging apps at volume.
Watch out for: Users, contacts and AI credits each move the bill. See Respond.io vs Cue for the side-by-side.
3. SleekFlow
SleekFlow is a WhatsApp-led platform for sales and commerce teams.
What it does well: WhatsApp broadcasts and flows, Instagram and Messenger in the same inbox, and commerce features for selling over chat.
Pricing: Essential $49 a month annually with three seats; Pro $109 with ten seats and 500 monthly active contacts; Premium $279 with ten seats and 1,000 contacts. Extra contacts $20 per 100, extra users $25, WhatsApp number hosting $15 a month. Checked 13 October 2026.
Best for: Retail and ecommerce teams selling on WhatsApp.
Watch out for: Email and VoIP were labelled coming soon when checked. Confirm what's released in your region.
4. Trengo
Trengo is a shared inbox for email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and a website widget, with Flowbots, AI tools and Trengo Voice.
What it does well: Broad channel coverage in one inbox, including the social channels service teams often get asked for, and native calling with AI voice advertised.
Pricing: Boost EUR 299 a month annually (EUR 349 monthly) with ten users; Pro EUR 499 (EUR 599) with twenty. Conversations are billed on a seven-day window; AI, voice and broadcasts are add-ons. Checked 13 October 2026.
Best for: Teams that need Instagram and TikTok alongside WhatsApp and email.
Watch out for: Three add-ons for a team that needs voice, AI and broadcasts. We compare the two in Trengo vs Cue and list more options in our Trengo alternatives guide.
Four more Wati alternatives you'll see on shortlists
These four come up in the same searches as Wati. They're not in the comparison table above because we haven't priced them side by side; check each vendor's own pricing page for current plans, users included and message charges.
AiSensy (aisensy.com) is a WhatsApp marketing platform that competes with Wati on broadcast-led campaigns, particularly in India and other markets where WhatsApp marketing volumes are high. Best for broadcast-heavy WhatsApp marketing teams. Check whether the inbox, routing and reporting cover a service team's needs, and whether UK or South African support hours apply.
Interakt (interakt.shop) is a WhatsApp marketing and support platform aimed at small and growing businesses, with Instagram alongside WhatsApp. Best for small teams that want WhatsApp campaigns and a simple inbox at a low price. Phone and email aren't listed as inbox channels.
Gupshup (gupshup.io) is a conversational messaging platform used by larger businesses and developers, covering WhatsApp, SMS, RCS and other channels through APIs and a conversation builder. Best for technical teams building their own conversation journeys across several channels at scale. It's a platform to build on rather than a ready-made service inbox, so budget for implementation.
ChatInc (chatinc.com) is a South African WhatsApp Business provider, which matters for teams that want local support hours, rand billing and a provider used to POPIA. Best for South African businesses that want a local WhatsApp provider. Confirm channel coverage beyond WhatsApp and how AI and automation are priced.
Wati alternatives in South Africa

South African teams asking about Wati alternatives tend to ask two extra questions: what does it cost in rand, and is anyone local?
Cue is priced in rand on its South African pricing page: Connect R4,500, Automate R8,800 and Scale R13,300 a month at 1,500 monthly active contacts, with WhatsApp messages at R0.70 marketing, R0.25 utility, R0.16 authentication and R0.16 service. Cue has an office in Cape Town as well as Chester, and the free support plan runs on weekday hours with paid tiers above it. Hollard, Payflex and Pace Car Rental are South African customers whose results are published, and reviewers from Axxess and TiAuto Investments describe Cue on G2 from a South African service and automotive seat respectively.
ChatInc is the local provider most often shortlisted alongside Cue, and Clickatell is a South African option for teams that want messaging APIs rather than an inbox. For a fuller SA list, see our comparison of WhatsApp Business solution providers in South Africa.
Moving your WhatsApp number from Wati
You can move a WhatsApp Business Platform number from one provider to another. The outline is the same for every provider: tell the current provider you're leaving, have two-step verification switched off on the number, and let the new provider register it.
Your number and your approved message templates move with you to Cue. Ask both providers in writing about timing before you set a date, and export your conversation history from Wati first, because it lives in Wati's software rather than on the number.
Keep Wati running until the number is live and answering in the new platform. Nobody can promise a switch with no gap unless both systems overlap for a while.
How to choose
What fails today? Ownership, speed, missed follow-up, repeat questions, broadcasts or an integration. The fix is different for each.
How many people need the number? Count everyone who ever replies, including sales and managers. That number against each vendor's included users decides most of the bill.
Is the job inbound service or campaigns? Campaign and commerce tools favour Wati, SleekFlow, AiSensy and Interakt. Service favours Cue and Respond.io.
Does automation need rules and knowledge answers, or system actions? Decide which, then check how each vendor charges for it.
Which system must it connect to? Name the CRM, DMS or ecommerce platform and confirm the integration exists today, not on a roadmap.
Then run one real enquiry through each shortlisted platform with the people who'll use it.

See Cue for yourself
If your team has outgrown three seats on WhatsApp, or your customers also email and call, book a demo and we'll run one of your real enquiries through Cue. Pricing is published in pounds and rand.
